Having a baby can be a wonderful experience, unfortunately, for many moms it can lead to significant weight gain. While gaining weight during pregnancy is normal, once the baby has been born, knocking those pounds off can be a struggle.


The main problem for many moms is that with a baby to take care of, finding the time to prepare healthy foods can be difficult. However, losing that baby weight is possible, it might just take a bit of time, that’s all.

To help you get rid of those extra pounds as quickly as possible, here are a few tips and ideas that should help.

Do gentle exercise

Start off by walking your new addition around where you live for 15 to 20 minutes in the morning and evening. Not only will this help you lose weight, but it will also get the little one off to sleep. As your body gets stronger, you can then up this to 20-30 minutes each morning and evening.

Did you know that pushing a pram for 30 minutes burns around 100 to 150 calories? So by walking your little one around your neighborhood each day twice, you will be burning between 200 and 300 calories.

Watch what you eat

You may not have much time to prepare healthy foods, but it’s important that you are careful about what you are eating. Avoid foods that are high in fat and empty calories, like chips, chocolate, cakes and biscuits, fatty meats, and sodas.

Aim to eat a healthy, clean diet, rich in whole grains, lean meats, and fruits and vegetables. If you are struggling to get rid of your belly fat, eat lots of fiber, as fiber is great for cutting through stomach fat.

As well as eating healthy, clean meals, make sure also to snack on healthy foods. Things like nuts, seeds, vegetable sticks, fruit, and hummus are all ideal snacks.

Get rid of stubborn fat

If, after a few months, you still have stubborn areas of fat, you might want to consider some other options.

Lift weights
