4 Amazing Natural Cleaning Products

December 8, 2014

Cleaning products can be overpriced and even ineffective at times. Worst of all, many popular household cleaning products are loaded with toxic chemicals that could be doing damage to your family and the environment. Skip the traditional lotions and potions and give these homemade tips a try.

  1. Baking Soda: Baking soda is truly a miracle product when it comes to keeping your home squeaky clean. It cleans, removes odors, scours and softens water. We especially love using baking soda to degrease the oven – make a paste with baking soda and water and spread it on the greasy areas. It gently removes all of the mess in your oven with no negative health impact on your home or the environment.
  2. Vinegar can be used to clean up a wide range of household messes. Use it to cut through grease, remove odors and get rid of stubborn stains. A little vinegar placed in a bowl with baking soda and lemon juice will prevent cooking smells from filling your home, and white vinegar combined with water in a spray bottle creates the perfect DIY all-purpose household cleaner.
  3. You may not have heard of borax (sodium borate), but it’s a very handy product to have around the house. Mix it with vinegar and water to make a natural disinfectant, and sprinkle it onto your carpets to kill fleas and flea eggs in your home. You can also mix it with lemon juice to make your own DIY toilet cleaner.
  4. Lemon juice is great for cooking and cleaning. We’ve already mentioned it as an ingredient in the above tips, but it can also be used to tackle household bacteria and eliminate odors in your home. Rub a slice of lemon on your chopping block to tackle germs, and squeeze juice onto stains to eliminate spots.
